Why I Do Not Vote

Voting is neither sufficient nor necessary, it is the quality of institutions that matter

I live in New York City but my official permanent residency is in Massachusetts. When people in my personal or professional life ask me who I voted for in the last presidential election, I say that I didn’t vote because I came from and live in a Blue state, and therefore it doesn’t matter anyway since there’s no doubt what the outcome will be in solid Democrat territory.

This was indeed the true reason before.

However, the true reason I do not vote now is that I no longer believe in the vote since it is neither sufficient nor necessary.

I will explain specifically why I do not vote so that my reasons are subject to public scrutiny and those in my personal life who read this can understand my position. It is not an unchangeable position, so I’m definitely open to reversing my current position or at least refining them for good reasons.

Personal Political Positions

Unfortunate Reality

To provide more context why I say I didn’t vote in the last presidential election, it’s a way to preempt conflict because almost everyone I meet in my daily life is a Liberal and/or Democrat.
