I agree with you that running is dull AF, lol.
It’s been a long road to get to this point, but now I think my body’s used to it and it’s OK. I’m more concerned about not lifting and the sheer amount of time the running now takes. I think I might start to decrease mileage and branch into lifting more as you mentioned.
Anyways, here’s another post I wrote about injury prevention, which I think is more important than cardiovascular training in running.
