The exit of American forces out of Syria may have involved only a few hundred Americans but will have large immediate regional impact and sets in motion world geopolitical implications.
There’s been extreme emotion from across the political spectrum and news coverage that’s highly-biased against troop withdrawal, with only a few voices such as Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul and Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard speaking in support of the troop withdrawal.
What’s missing is a reference to the title of this article: “Nations do not have permanent friends or enemies, only interests,” which was a phrase most often attributed to former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger but was originally uttered by Henry John Temple, twice British Prime Minister in the mid-1800s.
