Hi Mitchell,
1. Philosophy and Science
Sometimes questions that are considered philosophy may first be impossible to be well-posed by Science, and then eventually become easily in the domain of Science. One issue might be morality, which could be an encapsulation of game-theoretical optimizations during our species' evolution. Qualia might indeed be another one.
2. Timeframes
50-100 ms is at the neuron level, but I wonder if there are processes "within" neurons that are much faster we need to consider in a scientific understanding of consciousness? There were thoughts that quantum mechanics could be involved, specifically in the neurons' microtubules as posited by Roger Penrose, but Max Tegmark did calculations showing that decoherence would take place in more like 10E-15 seconds or faster. Yet another issue where bringing scientific tools to bear on philosophical issues is useful for what seemed purely philosophical before.
3. Physicalism
Anyways, physicalism is too strong for me and that's why I don't or can't abandon it for more ill-defined philosophical views such as panpsychism or qualia, but at the same time I want to be open to these philosphical ideas to see how they can be made into more measurable and scientific issues, and/or to reject them.
