Female hypergamy is hardwired into our species' evolutionary history, and became intertwined with our culture, much like male sexual drive makes them prefer fertile women (it's amoral, not immoral for either sex). Female hypergamy makes total sense since one child for a woman is a vastly far greater investment, cost, and risk to a woman than it is to a man, so why wouldn't she try to give it the best shot?

Regardless, I think it's important to think through these issues honestly without being imprisoned by the moralism or politics of this our environment in this place and time, or our own feelings and personal preferences.

In other words, "it is mark of an educated mind is to be able to entertain an idea without accepting in it."
