Congruence: Political Ideology and Government, Startups and Markets, Evolutionary Mechanisms
Some thoughts on the congruence between ideas in political ideology and government, startups and markets, and evolutionary mechanisms.
In political ideology and government, it’s localized, loosely-coupled, small, distributed government that can account quickly and tailored for local and changing conditions that I believe is superior to centralized, strongly-coupled, big government. Central Planning in the USSR and China may appear very strong and mighty. This lasts for a while, until it cannot keep up with changing circumstances.
In startups and markets, fail small, fail fast, fail often, and fail distributedly is better than a huge lumbering corporation subsidized by taxpayer money and protected by strong regulation and laws, that leads to failing slowly on a huge scale from a single point slowly that has huge implications across various markets. Let 100x startups approach commercial spaceflight, rather than 1 big government agency since every problem can be viewed and solved in many ways.
In many ways, the very mechanism of evolution itself works on these principles.
- Nature Proposes by Genetic Mutation
- Nature Selects by Natural Selection
